What to Expect in a Massage Therapy Session

Massage is a great way to relax and de-stress. It can also offer a number of other benefits, such as improved circulation, reduced pain, and increased flexibility. If you are new to massage, here is what you can expect:

  • Once the therapist leaves the room, you will undress to your level of comfort before laying down on the massage table. Blankets are used to help keep areas not being worked on covered.

  • The massage therapist will begin by uncovering, or draping the area of the body that will be worked on. Only the area of the body that is receiving treatment will be uncovered at that time. All other areas of the body will remain covered.

  • The massage therapist will begin by applying massage cream/lotion to your skin. This will help to reduce friction and make the massage more comfortable.

  • The massage therapist will then use their hands to apply pressure to your muscles. The pressure may be firm or light, depending on your preference.

  • The massage therapist may use different techniques, such as kneading, stroking, cupping, and tapping. They may also use their elbows and forearms.

  • You may feel some discomfort or soreness during the massage, especially if you have tight muscles, or are new to massage. However, the discomfort should not be severe, and should not last long.

  • You can tell the massage therapist at any time if you need them to adjust the pressure or stop. Remember this is your massage, so it’s important to communicate with the therapist on how you’re feeling.

  • After the massage, you may feel relaxed and refreshed. You may also feel some soreness, which is normal. And it is important to always drink lots of water after a massage.

  • You should also let Chad know about any medical conditions you have so he can adjust the massage accordingly.

Massage is a safe and effective way to improve your overall health and well-being. If you are looking for a way to relax, reduce stress, and improve your physical and mental well-being, massage is a great option.
